FYI - for about $7 more w/ discount code there's a good alternative option for those who want a rtsp feed for saving to local LAN devices ( Blue Iris, NAS, NVR, .. )

see post 190 "10% off worked form me: sdfd3"

Should note though the viewing angle is pretty different. This YI camera is 122 degrees vs 85 degrees of that Annke camera. Personally, I find the wide angles much more useful.

Wide angles create shorter view distances

True. I guess it depends on the application and what best fits your needs. For me, I use my cameras most to watch the yard gremlins in the backyard or the babysitter while I'm out.

Have you guys tried WyzeCam?

https://www.wyzecam.com/

Amazon has a wait of 1-2 months but the manufacturer website says it's in stock for them. I'm getting mine on Saturday to check it out. Might be a good contender for indoor wireless camera although it still has to be powered with a power cord.

On a side note, one of the co-founders of this camera has a daughter that's a youtube sensation. You've probably seen one of her videos:

FWIW, I have the wyze camera & the 720p version of the Yi. Wyze picture quality is definitely better, but I have trouble connecting to the camera from outside my house. The Yi always connects with no issue.

I installed one of these for my gf so she can watch her dogs while she's working. It was super easy to set up and intuitive for her to use. If you put an microsd in, it highlights where movement in red so she knows where to scroll.

Hi KVW,

Remember to double check those numbers...

SOME brands list Diagonal FOV, others H FOV, .. some are really nice and list both H FOV and V FOV.

In general I have found 85 degrees ( H FOV ) works really well for a corner of a room.

I bought the amazon cloud cam a few weeks ago. I like it but wonder if this is better bang for the buck. I have an echo show but don't use it for watching the cloud cam if that would factor one way or the other

Based on reviews, whether you get the cloud service or not, it sends the video and audio feed somewhere else. So someone else is seeing what your camera is seeing. If it's pointed outside it may not matter. But either way, there's an invasion of privacy. And if you are tech savvy enough to turn off that communication, the camera no longer works.
Read the review.
