Not too shabby. Not having to pay tax (depending on state) is the real kicker to this deal. Saves me 100 bucks over similarly priced laptop from anywhere else.

It is darn good price for a GTX 1070 laptop and it checks all the other boxes as well, 7th Gen i7, SSD + HDD combination, over 8GB ram, Type-C Port, G-Sync, Thunderbolt 3.

Plus 12 GB ram is sufficient for just about all uses. Can game and still have chrome with 10 tabs open no problem.

I just bought the Dell 7577 from Costco the other day with very similar specs (except mine has 16GB RAM and a GTX 1060) for $899 and I'm considering whether it's worth returning it to get this to upgrade to the GTX 1070. Not sure if it's worth the extra $400 for the gaming I'm going to be doing, though.

Anyone have any experiences with this one? The cooling issues kind of worry me.

Alright, thanks. The screen doesn't concern me too much, it suits my needs just fine. I just wanted that GTX 1070 but an extra $400 that could be spent on larger SSDs is hard to justify. I also don't want to have to deal with cooling issues which after reading the thread on the Asus forums seems to be a mixed bag. Some people seem to solve the heat issues with undervolting, others are doing crazy stuff like running with the cover off or drilling holes (!)

Let me put together what you are going to get over that Dell:-
  1. Better Graphics performance: The Dell one has 1060 Max-Q version which is already 10%-12% behind normal GTX 1060. This Asus one has full blown GTX 1070 and therefore, a good amount of faster than Dell's gtx 1060 max-Q.
  2. Better Display: The Asus one does have a better quality display than Dell.
  3. G-Sync & Higher Refresh rate: Along with having a better quality display, this one has Nvidia G-Sync enabled and 75 Hz refresh rate. So, it will provide you far smoother game-play experience.
  4. Playing Game at Higher Resolution: If you hook up your Laptop to a QHD or 4K Display, this baby will be still capable of providing pretty decent frame rates with high or mid settings which is not the case for Dell.

I own this laptop and it is HOT when you play games max settings. However, i bought an external cooling fan from Opolar on Amazon, problem solved.
