Why are you even posting this? This was on sale for $149.99 for a LONG time and anyone that was in the market for it bought it then.

It was a great deal back then too. Was $180 with the controller. Best streaming device in the market. Loving mine. No more dealing with crappy boxes.

... And if you happen to be in the market now, this is a decent price. That's all I'm sharing, didn't mean to offend you.

The remote is crap. They spent wayyy too much money on making it look sleek instead of giving it dedicated functions like pause, play, rewind, fwd, menu etc. Its an unbelievable pain in the @$$ and many apps can't even be used properly without those functions. I have both a Roku and Fire TV and was hoping to move them to another room after buying the shield, but because of this crappy fancy looking remote, I can't do that. If they just provided a basic remote that just gets the job done like either the Roku or Fire TV remote, the price would be much lower and you would get a better functioning remote. I can't believe how much these crap remotes go for.

That was the old 2015/16 version, and this is the new updated 2017 model (?)

the directional/select buttons act as the play/pause, ff, rw functions.

only in some apps, not others. There are apps where the remote simply cannot do any of those functions you listed and is useless on the shield with that remote.

I have no issues with any of my apps regarding those functions. What apps in particular are you referring to?

P.S. Worst case scenario, I use a Logitech Harmony + Flirc and voila problem solved! Smilie

The case/remote is smaller. Comes with free remote. Google Assistant. Android 7.0 Nougat come pre-installed. Optionally includes a controller (at extra cost).

The first one that comes to mind is the NBA app. All i can do i pause and play. thats it. I know there were a bunch of others, but thats the one i use the most and I have to use my fire tv stick with it now because with that remote, i have full functionality on that app.

I have Logitech Harmony 700 and Flirc and it doesn't work with the Shield.

Have you tried it with kodi? Kodi has its own native FF, RW, etc functions that you can conifgure with harmony + flirc. If not, Nvidia has an option to buy the shield TV that comes with the game controller which should have those functions that you need.
