Non-stick wok is NOT a good idea. High heat will break down the teflon.

carbon steel much better for woks IMO

Whew, you're pretty misinformed.

Firstly, the absolute initial step for a carbon steel wok is to season it. Once you do this, the metal is protected, and the surface is nonstick. Now, your pan is superior to stainless in every way except "putting it in the dishwasher" (yikes!).

Carbon steel has higher thermal conductivity and will perform better in high-heat cooking, which is the only reason you should use a wok anyway.

If you're cooking tomato sauce in a wok...what the hell are you doing? The whole point of a wok is heat concentration.

"the metal dissolves into the food" - I don't even know where to start with that. Metal isn't just "soluble" in food, that's not how that works. And once again, if you didn't season your wok first thing, you're doing it wrong. Beyond that, the layer of seasoning is polymerized oil - nonreactive and nonstick.

If you want to buy the stainless version, go ahead, but you're sort of defeating the purpose of owning a wok. Given your lack of knowledge about pan composition, you're probably using it on a glass top anyway. Unless you've got at least 18-20k btu gas burner, there's not much reason for a wok in the first place.

Just use a flat pan...no need for a rounded wok with most of the US stovetops. At least it's not a non-stick wok...
As long it's a flat bottom, will work fine with glass stoves.

never said it wouldn't work - a flat pan has more contact - makes for a better wok - more area contacts the heat.
