With Iris playing, I banged my first girlfriend in the back of my parents' red '95 Jeep Cherokee. Ahhh the 90s were so great, what a simple and enjoyable time that was to grow up. I'll have to listen to Iris on the way to work tomorrow to reminisce. I have no need for this but TU and Repd for the memories

You sure about that? I don't actually know, but it would be way out of the ordinary for major label 90's alternative rock to have different masterings

Not sure why you think that, it's pretty common actually.

Probably not better, but that also depends on your system. A lot of people are heading back into vinyl.

Late 90s through early 2000s major label alt rock wasn't released on vinyl, which is part of it. At that time they were adamant about using digital production so they could have a format proof universal digital master.
This is true of the vast majority of major alternative music from that period. I'm sure there are numerous exceptions and they could certainly eq a CD differently, but true remastering requiring engineers is rare for any major label in the last 20 years.
