The added scenes in the complete version are great and add to the story but the film was made specifically for fans and non-fans will feel a bit lost.

You couldn't watch this without high refresh rate... The pace of action was so fast. I still loved it not knowing much about FF. I knew enough to get what was going on.

I see on amazon there is a 2016 version (instead of this 2009 version) that is $0.30 more. Anyone know the difference?

...well, I googled it: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boa...n/48232612
-HD-ness
-extra attention to detail (dirt, blood, etc.)
-remade scenes
-new scenes
-"On the Way to a Smile" OVA.

- and around 25 minutes of extra scenes

Actually, this is for "Advent Children Complete", which both 2009 and 2016 are. So I still don't know.

After a few more minutes of searching, it appears there is nothing different.

I was able to get this for $0.19 with the 20% coupon clip on the page + a $5.00 "No-Rush Reward towards DVD's" from a previous purchase. Totally worth it.

There is more blood in the complete version too, especially in the final fight.

Watched this version recently. It's a definite improvement over the original, adding some great additional choreography in key fight scenes, a short scene that explains Denzel's background (a character who otherwise was kind of just with the heroes with zero explanation), and even some small details like adding dirt and blood to clothing.

Still the film is 100% fanservice and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't intimately familiar with the game it's a sequel to (1997's FINAL FANTASY VII). Those who aren't may still get some enjoyment out of the breathtaking visuals or action-packed fights, but even for longtime fans, the story is a little odd and meandering at points. The film is of course packed with characters from the game as a service to fans, with most of them having little to no bearing on the actual narrative.

It's a really fun movie (at most times) if you can get past some pretty slow scenes and wildly awkward and staccato dialogue. It's definitely very Japanese/anime in its character interactions, so keep that in mind before you dive in.

A great watch with beer and popcorn, and at $6 I'd call this one a steal.

Other than the very end of this, I feel like it's underrated. I'm not sure if it's available on streaming services, but if not, I definitely think this is worth it.
