Adorama [adorama.com] has the 2016 model MacBook available again in space gray for $975. As before, the 512GB SSD is the stand-out feature in terms of value for such a product.

At this point there is no point NOT to upgrade to the Macbook Pro

The prices are nearly identical and the processor is a dual core rather than the slow pokes found in the Macbook Pro

In fact there is a Macbook Pro 13" for like $60 more right now on Slickdeals

The i5/i7 in MBP is a dual core also. I think you mean Y vs U processor. The MBP for a bit more is also only 128GB vs this being 512GB , to upgrade to that would be like $500 more. This is fanless and run really well, smaller, lighter, just as fast for normal stuff. If you don't need TB3 it's fine. I went with MBP because of the TB3. This also have the butterfly gen1 its a bit worse than the gen2 in the MBPs and new macbooks. You guys complaining need to research more.

The 12" MacBook isn't for everyone, but it is ULTRA portable... substantially smaller than even the 13" MacBook Pro... more than you would think. For someone just doing normal web browsing and emailing and other common tasks on the go it is a joy to carry around. To my surprise I have also had good luck with some infrequent Lightroom and Photoshop editing on it.

<sigh> It has rather been the way with these Adorama MacBook deals. It'll either come back in a few days (and be posted by Iconian) or we'll see nothing more...

I bought a 2017 macbook 12" over the pro and was happy cause of how small it was and fanless

then i returned it for an xps 13 2 in 1 for less money, twice the ram, and an i7

Strange one of the biggest complaints about the XPS (esp the 13") are how hot and loud they get

I had this and could not get used to the keyboard. I ended up selling it as much as I liked it.

The 2 in 1 is fanless. Uses the same y series cpu line as the MacBook 12"

Yea, i know that. But i never brought up that model and thats not the model that competes with the 12' macbook. The closest competitor to the 12" macbook is the 2 in 1 dell xps 13 as they are both fanless, similar physical size, and the same cpu line.

Like the Dell, but the screen on the macbook makes the Dell pale in comparison. Seems faster as well.
