Good deal. Cheaper than adding minutes to a current tracfone. Of course there's more work involved .....transferring phone, contacts etc.

Has 2gb ram which is needed.

One of these CO's ( Hsn, QVC, etc.), allows you up to 6 months to activate it. Other allows a year I believe. Don't remember which is which.

The HSN offers at least until recently were unlimited shelf life for activation after purchase. They made a big deal out of that for awhile. I looked at one not long ago that stated no activation expiration, but I don't see any such wording in this offer.

Are the minutes in the form of a refill card that you can apply towards a different phone? I got my elderly mother one of these last year for emergencies and the plan is renewing soon. Tya

1500 Minutes/Text/Data

What will happen if you use all those?

Buy more time.

TracFone is good for low volume phone call, text, and data users.
If you can use up 1500 min, text, and data in a year...
You should consider Total Wireless or Straight Talk.

Has anyone purchased one of these from HSN recently and succesfully transferred everything to a GSM phone they already own? (through the BYOD SIM device kit they sell). This worked a couple years ago, but not sure if anyone's done it recently.

Will the price for extra time the same as the price in this deal?

I know many prepaid cell service charge an arm and leg for extra time.

No, hasn't been like that for a couple years now. You can still capture the minutes, but you have to activate the new phone first including transferring your existing service to it, then jump everything back to the old phone.

These on-sale bundle deals always have cheaper prices than buying the airtime alone, and you get a new phone to boot. The retail price just for this amount of airtime is $125. Often available a little cheaper.

prices are listed on Tracfone site, it's usually similar price or cheaper to buy one of these deals with phone if you don't use a lot of minutes. Can sometimes find really good pkg deals on eBay Tracfone store too (my last one was $50 for ZTE 5.5" phone and 1350 min/txt/data for year, used a $10 off coupon).

After activating a HSN Tracfone using my current phone number, I did a transfer to a GSM phone/Sim card in December. No problem, and all was accomplished online with no human interaction. And apparently that is a good thing.

About 2-weeks ago I activated an Evine Tracfone using my other phone number, and did a transfer to a different CDMA phone. The activation worked fine, but the account was not credited with the new text/time/data. So it required a 10-minute phone call to get that added. The transfer back to the old CDMA phone was faultless.

I recently transferred my service from a TF CDMA phone to a BYOD GSM phone, using the online process with no problems.
