Is there a legitimate reason that they don't have cheaper motherboards for 8th gen CPUs yet? It's getting a bit ridiculous. This would be a good deal if not for motherboard prices.
H and b model motherboards are suppose to be out in 1st or 2nd quarter of 2018

Some solid combo deals for this CPU after the price drop even without promo code since they don't work with combos.

$271 for the i5-8400 and GIGABYTE Z370P D3.

Very attractive price point. Benchmarks shows this processor's performance in gaming on par with the i7 8th gen.

At 4k, wait for H Mobo to be less than $240 for better bang for buck

H meaning home and B meaning business. Mobo's designed for non-enthusiast (ie, non overclockable, maybe less pcie lanes, etc.)

Galen_ErsoAmd had 6 cores like a decade ago, and everyone still bought dual and 4 core intels while they became smaller, ran cooler, and were way more efficient

And none of amd's 6 cores played nice with anything of added value like hackintosh and virtualization - just video games lol

Seriously i have a big v8 and a small twin turbo 4 cylinder and guess which one is as fast or faster and costs alot less to operate? Thats right, the tesla lol
haha, great non-sequitor! Got me laughing to the moon Wink

I have also seen benchmarks showing this CPU performing on par with 8700K in 4K and 3440x1440. So for playing at these high resolutions, one might as well get i-5 8400 and save about $150 over i-7 8700K. It may still be a good idea to pair this with a Z370 motherboard at a good price rather than H or B. That will allow for an upgrade path to 8700K with a good overclock in the future. What do you guys think?

Is the chipset the same as the motherboard? Dell has an xps i3 gen 8 computer for around $494. I think they refer to the fact that it has a z370 motherboard.

I cant help think that a computer like this is a good start for a person building their own computer when i look at the costs of the individual components on this page. Thanks!

Wait for benchmarks of a non initial release, running on a lower cost board. Still unconfirmed if these run as amazing as the release chips (which were handed out by Intel with super expensive mobos)
