PHP tag broken?

98,939 11,859 February 11, 2018 at 08:23 AM
Every time I try and use PHP tagging, its no longer working...I get a 404 error on trying to submit the thread. People use PHP coding tag to wrap tweet templates to enter sweeps....

Code works, not php.
You could try it yourself you know. Click PREVIEW.
You get 403, so I'm guessing something's blocked.
(tested 2weeks ago)

Unless you were being sarcastic...

Yes, code appears to be working....but not PHP. As pointed out above preview is a good way to test it not working.

Sorry, I should've been more clear; is there a reason you need to use php tags instead of code tags? Did one do something the other doesn't? Smilie

Just trying to judge the impact of the issue.

TBH, I wasn't really aware of code tag...probably sounds terribly obtuse, but simply the way I was taught to use the forum by others. This code does work for this.

People in C+S forum use the PHP code for writing entry templates for things like 'Twitter' entries. The fact that it doesn't automatically link text (parse) is preferable for that sort of thing.

As some additional info, it seems about the time this issue occurred was when you added blocked URLs to PHP codes. Previously sites like bit ly that shortened urls were not blocked when using php code. So you could shorten links in roder to meet the Twitter minimum character limit.

On other forums, php is colorized. But the bigger problem is that new users clicking on the php icon with intention or not ends up in the 403 error page. They will lose everything they've typed. If they're lucky, going back will recover those text, but not always the case.

If it's a button available on the editor, it shouldn't cause the site to crash... Either it needs to be handled or removed from the editor.

What are you putting in the code tag that makes it happen? I can only reproduce it with the PHP tag still.

code] and c0de] text also triggered the error without the "[". So it may not be a tag error, but something else is triggering the 403.

Here are some examples, base64 encoded:
