seem to be a lot of sales on these lately. Is there a new version coming out or something?

Probably with the youtube issue and lack of tons of kodi resellers these days, im sure stock > demand.

Maybe... This model shows as 2017 model. Is there 2018 model coming out? Power and volume control for your TV built into the remote would be nice on the new model. My Android TV box does all that plus the air mouse and keyboard built-in.

Is there really any point to these anymore when the Amazon app is downloadable/built into 4K tv's aside from if you want to hack one?

Hmmm this or roku stick? It's for my older father who has no need for 4k etc. Wondering how performance would be between the two.

Wondering the same, I recently got a 2016 4k oled. Would this have any additional features?

I was waiting for this to drop, but in the meantime purchased a Roku for a different tv... And now I'm thinking I'll go all Roku instead. The environment just seems better, and having access to YouTube is a plus.
Still actually ordered and then cancelled...ugh. Great price though, thanks for pointing this out OP!

I have been trying to find a used 2nd generation for a reasonable price, but finally going to pull the trigger on this one. I'm hoping it's a nice upgrade from my 1st gen Fire TV.

Gut feeling that Amazon will be snappier but roku interface is clearer.

Yeah I'm thinking volume and tv power on roku remote might be beneficial for him as well. The main benefit of fire tv might be more processing power.
