Massdrop is a group buying site where the final price is determined by the number of purchases; you'll be charged when the drop ends (on Feb 15, 2018) for the lowest price point the drop has reached at that time.

After the drop ends, payment will be collected and the group's order will be submitted to the vendor up front, making all sales final. Check the discussion page for updates on your order.

You must click "Join Drop" in order to see the price and place your order.

Debate of Gunnar vs. cheaper brands vs. F.lux vs. this is marketing garbage:

There are at two primary reasons why you may need them.

First. If you shoot guns, you probably own a pair of shooting glasses. They remove a narrow blue light spectrum, which makes things appear sharper. This is the effect Gunnars are trying to replicate with computers. They remove "eye strain" during the day by blocking a narrow lower spectrum of the blue light. Only lowest end of blue light spectrum needs to be blocked in order to make things look sharper, while mostly preserving the natural colors. This is not breakthrough invention, this technology existed for years, but Gunnars are trying to differentiate themselves to justify $100 price tag. This is where we get into the marketing fluff and questionable claims.

Second. Blue light emitted by LCD screens disrupts melatonin production in your body and messes up your sleep cycle. This is not marketing fluff, it has been confirmed by many scientific studies. If you want to minimize the sleep disruption, you want to block a broad spectrum of blue light and wear the glasses primarily in the evening. Which will mess up the screen colors, because ... you block the blue light. If you want to protect your sleep cycle, you have to be aggressive with blocking blue light in the evenings, so the orange screen will be your friend. You can buy a $10 pair of safety glasses with the broadest blue light blocking spectrum to get the best effect. F.lux serves the same purpose. Gunnars will be only moderately effective in this case as they do not block all blue light spectrum.

So, you may actually want two different pairs or a combination of glasses and F.lux. During the day you need to block only narrow spectrum blue light in order to make things look sharper. You actually want blue light during the day to reduce sleepiness. In the evening, you want to block as much blue light as possible to let your natural sleep cycle work. BTW, pretty much any any large lens distributor offers a blue-blocker coating in many different shades for your prescription lenses. You can also look up suppliers for safety glasses and they make lenses in many different color tints. They even have fancy graphs of wavelength blocking, just like on the Gunner web site.

GammaRay's on Amazon achieve the same result at 1/3 the price. I've been using them for years, work great.

Justgetflux.com. Is a free program to run on your computer that does the same as the glasses and works amazing. Recommend it as an optometrist

It ships on March 8. There's a delay because Massdrop has to submit the orders of all those who joined the drops to the manufacturer in order to get those low prices, and then Massdrop has to then ship the orders.

I placed my first order a few weeks ago for a watch and received it 3 days after the stated ship date. Shipping sometimes just depends on the whole coordination aspect between Massdrop/manufacturer of each drop

Never tried GammaRay's, so I can't speak on the quality and picture of the lenses, but I know that Gunnars has a patent on their lenses https://gunnar.com/lens-technology/ [gunnar.com], https://gunnar.com/fact-and-data/ that filters high frequency harmful blue light that causes eyestrain, while maintaining enough color/light so you can actually see most of the true color of the screen.

I used a brand called TrueDark prior to using Gunnars and they were pretty awful, as they blocked blue light but everything was pretty much yellow.

The lens technology is all the same for all glasses, so it just depends on what style/fit of the glasses on your face. I'd recommend going on https://gunnar.com/product-category/eyewear/ and finding the sizing/specs of the models you're interested in
