I have been shopping for and Astro headset for MONTHS now and I have never come across a deal like this. Since Astro doesn't do sales, it looks like Dell has added a $100 giftcard with purchase.

I can go back and buy the games he wanted with this!!

Thinking of buying ASAP as it looks to be a limited number.

Feed back is appreicated...

Absolutely loved my Astro A50 Gen 2. "Upgraded" to the Gen 3s and sold my Gen 2s. Gen 3s had major connectivity issues and would drop out constantly. The mic seemed to be worse than the Gen 2s also. I ended up returning them. I picked up a pair of Sony Platinums for $109 and have been happy. They don't sound quite as good but cost a 1/3 of the price and have had zero connectivity issues.

Not to mention the changing base was a great idea, but poorly executed.

Agreed. That was what I was most excited about.

I use the Platinum too, had to send it in for no sound in the left ear cup. Works good now.

I use A40 wired 1st gen. I have the Mixamp 5.1, but i rarely use it due to headphone jacks being in the controller nowadays. I have heard that the A40s were better in sound quality than the A50s when they came out. Is this still true? I have a screw that is slightly stripped that works it's way out every once in a while and have been thinking of upgrading.

The A50s sound good but not as good as the A40s. Whenever you're comparing wired headphones to wireless wired will win everytime.

I bought this from Best Buy for $260 when it first released and I love it, I use the Xbox version for both my PC and Xbox

Pros:
-Fully wireless is absolutely amazing ...I'm never going back
-The base station is nice but sometimes it can be a pain to get the headset to charge due to the magnetic charging dock BUT you can always plug in a Micro USB directly to the headset to charge it, even when using the headset
-A full charge lasts like 12 to 15 hours
-Can customize sound output and mic levels using the Astro Command Center software
-Has three eq presets that you can fully customize using the software

Cons:
-Switching the base station from Xbox to PC is poorly made. You have to unplug the optical and Micro USB cable coming from the Xbox and plug in the Micro USB cable coming from the PC and flip the switch from Xbox to PC
-Audio is not as good as the wired Astro Gen 2 I had before this one
-I've only had occasional, minor connectivity issues. I'm talking like 2 seconds of disconnect two or three times over an 8 hour period
-Mic quality could be better but my friends never complain

IMO the pros outweigh the cons and make this headset worth purchasing if your looking for fully wireless

Buy at best buy if you can, I bought several different headsets from them over the years along with their warranty for $40. The warranty lasts two years and they'll replace it if broken(but they have never checked if it's actually broken) or give you a best buy gift card(for what you paid plus the tax that you paid) to upgrade or spend on whatever you want
