I think it was. I just received the auto-notify email from evga but it's gone now. They probably just had 1 in stock.

Yeah. I also received the auto-notify so I figured they'd have more than 1 in stock. Guess not lol.

I picked up the SC17 980 mx version recently and have been extremely satisfied with the exception of a few quirks. Build quality is great though.

What's the difference between this model and the one with GSYNC in the model name? https://www.evga.com/products/pro...41-2633-T1

The item # is slightly different and the price is $1000 higher but the configuration look the same. Is the GTX 1070 graphics card any different between the two models?

That model includes a GSYNC display. Supposed to help support screen tearing, input lag, etc.

Aside from that, AFAIK, nothing is different.

You will not be gaming (battlefeld, star citizen, etc) in 4K mode with a 1070. Just not going to happen.

I picked this up before the holidays, but didn't have time to walk through setting it up the way I wanted (games and such) till recently. compared to my previous Alienware 15r3 (I think 970m?) so far I'm very impressed. The cooling is louder, but the power this is pushing is much higher than the Alienware. One thing that makes the cooling more noticeable is it spools up/down often, while gaming (due to it's need, of course). I'm sure I can configure this in the app it comes with, or NVidia's app as I think a constant cooling speed would be less noticeable.

One thing that I can't believe is the boot-up time. It is less than 10s for a cold start. I actually couldn't believe how fast it was and thought it must be going into a form of standby.

One thing I liked more with the Alienware is the matte finish of the overall design meant less fingerprints overall (keep or a microfiber handy I suppose). I also rested my Surface on top of the EVGA (something I did a lot with my Alienware) and I noticed the top has what appears to be scratches. I haven't tried to buff them out yet, but something to be aware of.

Using the Precision Mobile X tool, try setting a undervolt of at least -80 (adaptive), that should help a little bit with the temp on the CPU and PCH...it has on mine with the 1070 model.
