Looking at those on Amazon, they're not even close in price. Why would you suggest high end equipment in a thread that's for a $30 camera? The people looking for a $30 home camera won't be looking to spend $100+.

Personally, I'd recommend a Yi camera. In this case, the Yi dome camera. It's $5 more, but the app for it is super easy to use, not to mention a ton more refined than most of these chinesium cameras... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CW4BG4K/

Agreed, I was debating between some Yi's and Amcrest and finally just decided to spend the extra money on the Amcrest 2k cams. The Yi cameras look as if they do a better job at night comparing the 1080 versions of each.

I have an older model of this same cam that does NOT have the wifi antenna and it's a huge pain in the ass to connect. video quality is good for the price. I'd like to think this one works better thanks to that antenna

I have this product and use it over WiFi as a baby cam. The WiFi seems to drop every few days and the camera needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to reset it. I think I paid double this.

I have this and love it. It does everything I need effortlessly. Been waiting for the price to drop to pick up a second one.

Thanks OP!

I have the older model that went on sale last year. Wondering if the differences in models will affect the ability to have multiple camera options under one app

Not true. Not all SD'ers are that cheap. We are all here for good deals on good products. But it is painful to buy something simply because it is cheap only to have to replace it over and over again. I am as thrifty as the next person but you really do get what you pay for in life.

Can Yi dome store locally on an SD?

Depends on application (indoor/outdoor, lighting, distance etc). ipcamtalk has some reviews. Avoid those without upgradable firmware (security patches, bug fixes)

Are these things less secure than name brand IP cams? I don't want to have a camera in my home that hackers can reasonably easily access.
