Offer valid while promotion last. The Fellowship of the Ring, the first volume in the trilogy, tells of the fateful power of the One Ring. It begins a magnificent tale of adventure that will plunge the members of the Fellowship of the Ring into a perilous quest and set the stage for the ultimate clash between the powers of good and evil. - Discombobulated

Rob Inglis brings Tolkien's language skills to life in such a way that I can visualize the characters and scenery as the action unfolds. My only concern is the frequency by which I zone out during my morning commute while listening to this recording. I'll be listening to it several times in the future!

I'd purchased "The Hobbit" audiobook when it went on sale this past fall. The reader was absolutely brilliant doing different voices for each character and just showing an incredibly dynamic vocal range... Turns out it's the same guy. Instabuy.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who listens to audiobooks on the way to work. Pretty sure I can get this book free with my audible subscription. If not I'm going to buy it.

If only they'd put the entire set on sale for 69¢ like they did for Peter Rabbit!

How does getting this for 5 dollars work if you don't want to sign up for an audible subscription? I'd like to buy this to keep, but it wants me to agree to Audible terms and services. Can I keep and download this if I don't want a subscription?

Thanks! I'm kind of clueless to the audiobook thing in these days of streaming services.

I would be wary on that. Isn't Audible owned by Amazon? They have been called out on bullshit for digital purchases before via Kindle. Issues like not being able to download certain books more than twice before having to repurchase, ect.

Wish I had known that before sinking roughly $300 into my Kindle library, but at least most of my purchases are available via their Comixology app as well. I don't know if Audible has any sort of equivalent to bypass any potential licensing issues (something like streaming it directly via the web vs downloading the file like Comixology allows), but it may be something to consider before starting a collection/subscription.

I find that it makes my commute more enjoyable. I don't get stressed out or worry when someone cuts me off or drives to slow. laugh out loud I can't listen while I am work though or I get zero work done. Thanks for the post. I just bought it.

So just to make sure, this is purely digital, i.e. not CDs? You can either get the digital copy to listen free via audible or pay $5 to make it your own without using audible?
