Ordered one .Slow like molasses writing.
When writing 30GB file to drive on USB3 port, speed would fluctuate between 2Kb to 20Mb.
Sometimes it will stop writing then resume with a burst then stop again.
Rma'd it. Waiting on replacement.
I have another Sandisk Extreme 64. Blazing fast, consistent fast speed. On same USB3 Port.

Yeah I've always steered clear of these turds... I mean I guess they're fine if you have a phone and like to transfer things to/from a flash drive. But they're not big enough to have a quality piece of NAND in them with a good controller that can support serious speed.

If you're referring to the SDCZ80-016G-G46 (older) or the newer SDCZ800-064G-G46 then YES they are amazing! I have 2x 32GB and 1x 64GB and they're so insanely fast. I also have the older 128GB metal body SDCZ88-128G-G46 which has read/write speeds >200MB/sec!! But these are borderline SSD on a stick. We can't expect this Dual USB thing to come anywhere near that sort of performance especially in such a tiny package... The NAND type, the controller, and also heat dissipation are all factors. Try dumping 60GB to your 64GB flash drive in one go and see how it gets a little toasty Smilienod. I know when I dump tons of shit to my 128GB drive it gets nice and warm.

Also your 64GB extreme and the ones I have handle non-sequential read/write much better, because they're just that much faster overall. I'm sure this Dual USB thing is "OK" for large sequentially written files, but probably CHOKES when it comes to writing many smaller files...

Anyway thanks for your feedback. I'm glad I've steered clear of these over the years Smilienod. Hopefully others will also unless they have a specific use case for them...

I guess I'm not entirely sure I get the point of this when I can connect a USB cable to my phone and transfer data straight to/from a computer?

I picked up 2, I've got the 32gb version. It's good to transfer files to the kids tablets from my pc or tab. I've not encountered the slow down with my current one. Crossing my fingers with these.

Do you walk around with your computer all the time? The point of this is to dump data from your phone to a flash drive when you're not at your computer. As strange as this may sound to you, some people do venture out more than fifty yards away from their computers.

Could it be a possibility that your usb port might be the problem ? 😉

I have the 128gb version of this. It was useful while I had a micro USB phone but now that I have a type c phone it's basically a regular flash drive to me. The slider doesn't really click in very well in the middle, so it mostly slides freely back and forth. However, it clicks in enough on either side so when you're trying to plug it in, it stays to one side fine. Hard to explain clearly...
