Great find, I recently purchased the Jack Ryan movie bundle on iTunes. The book is also listed at this price in the iTunes Store.

Great! This one's actually written by Clancy, it's not someone else's book with Clancy's name on it.

Great book, just that understand it was originally published in the 80's so set your expectations appropriately from a setting perspective.

This is literally the book I just so happen to be reading. Strange coincidence.

I prefer Jack Decker. More realistic.

Tom Clancy pretty much wrote the book on realism and authenticity in techo-thriller novels.
Although I looked up the character you mentioned and I see you may have meant your comment as a joke.

I think I read this in the late 80's or early 90's. Back when Clancy was in his prime... Red Storm Rising, Red October, Patriot Games, Clear & present danger etc. Later on he sold out and his name started to appear on everything.

Just read this book for the first time a month or so ago. Terrible book, believe it or not... Could've been shrunk 5x without any significant loss. I am almost compelled to believe that Mr. Clancy was paid on a per-line basis. Every side character gets so much "screen time" it could merit a separate book. Etc. etc. maybe Mr. Clancy's other books are better - I will give them a chance for sure...

I've read two books in the similar John Clark series...was super excited for Rainbow Six but it was at least 40% too long. Just repetitive and tedious and by the time I got to the exciting parts I was quite fatigued.
