I'd be interested in hearing personal antecdotes on what "acceptable" means to Amazon.

In my experience it could be:

"New Factory Sealed"

or:

"Smashed Beyond Belief"

Big deal. Buy it. Try it out. Return it if it doesn't meet your expectations. You got nothing to lose. You get to play with a switch for a week or two for the cost of having to repackage and sending it back to post the office.

What's a "wearhouse"? Is that some place to try on clothes?

After tax, it probably better to buy brand new on eBay for 290

You have plenty to lose and good way to get your account banned. It's not a free rental service. With your mentality, I don't blame them when it happens.
That's Bee Ess! An account cannot be banned simply by returning the console! You made it sounds like someone is gonna abuse the return policy where Amazon simply can't prove that especially when it only happens in a rare occasion

Is this your duplicate account ? Since the person I wrote to thought it was no big deal to make it into a free trial/rental. It's also probably not a "rare occasion" for someone to do this, with that mindset.

"Used-Acceptable" is one of the lowest grades and per their grading and can come quite marked up, missing accessories, etc....so your expectations should be quite low.

Play games with higher priced electronics like this one, with Amazon...and you'll find out soon enough, first hand.

No, this is my own account.

First of all, to buy anything and then return it to Amazon for any reason (in which an individual is not obligated to prove this to Amazon or any merchant especially when the return policy clearly says so).

(GameStop has this similar policy with pre own items)

However, if someone want to buy and return it several times is clearly asking for trouble and this is where you make a point.

What are you going on about ? Returning items with for fictitious reasons just to not be charged restocking fee's and pay for shipping is the problem.

You're right and I agree with you 100% however it the seller or the merchant that has to make their return policy abundantly clear that any item in "acceptable used" condition that the buyer wish to return are subject to restocking fee and no refund on shipping or simply say (sold as is, no return accepted or sales are final) This will prevent "rental purchase"

Thank you and end of discussion...as I have have no clue what you are going on about after this.

Amazon's return policy and condition guidelines are right on the website.

Abuse them (or make is seem probable that you could be abusing them by playing rent-a-center with them on pricier electronics) and they'll catch on sooner or later.

I bought one from Amazon Warehouse back in August. It was listed as acceptable with small scratches on the top and front. When it arrived, it was in perfect condition, been using it everyday since.
