How do we feel giving our biometric data to a private company?

Had it before for a year. Not so useful because of the very limited number of locations. If you use an airport that actually has it, it's not bad. But PreCheck is way cheaper. Clear charges annually and giving your biometric data for 3 months free use is a big question for the value.

you need both, if you have clear and dont have pre-check they just move you in front of the regular security line.

Clear is useful in big airports where everyone has pre-check. In Atlanta flying out on a Monday morning, pre-check could have a couple of hundred people in line, so cutting that line saves you probably 20 minutes.

Yeah to be clear (lol), all clear does is jump you to the x-ray line. You skip the line leading to the person that checks your ID and boarding pass. It does not give you access to precheck (by itself). Plus, it's only in a certain # of airports. If you want to spend $$ to speed up your security processing, getting a KTN (precheck) is better value for your $$.

The point I'm making is that it's not very good value if you can't/don't use it at the airport you frequent. While it's available at some major airports, it's value isn't there. Having PreCheck/Global Entry by itself is a much better cost effective solution than paying $15/mo for Clear.

Obviously having both is ideal but Clear isn't cheap and doesn't have coverage like PreCheck.

I've had clear for maybe 6 months. At DFW they bring you to the front of the regular security line not precheck so that's a waste. At LGA C or D I've never found the need to use it because precheck is usually not a huge line. I honestly think Precheck is a better choice having both for me is not worth it. Maybe in the Atlanta comment above it would be worth it.

Also if traveling with family, it does not apply to others, where precheck I have always gotten my family precheck when I book together.

Clear + Pre-Check at DEN gets me from curb to train in 3-4 minutes no matter the time of day.

Get a Delta SkyPass account, attach to Clear account, and you will renew at $99/yr. Add SO for $50/yr. Kids are free.

I travel for work, and family travels 2-3 times a year. Clear is so worth it if it's at your home airport.

Sure the clear line is always empty (I think I've seen some locations where they have a button to call an attendant due to lack of traffic), but don't you already get access to the priority line if you fly a lot? What am I missing here, do they offer any other benefits?
I guess clear might be good if you can't get approved for a known traveler number, and don't fly enough to qualify for priority access but fly enough to justify the cost of clear...?

I had a free trial membership last year and enjoyed it. I clicked Reactivate My Membership hoping that there would be somewhere to enter the promo code, but it charged my card the full $179 membership fee. So be careful if you already have an account. Not sure if this promo code is just for new accounts. I emailed them and am waiting to hear back.

Trial worked for me and wife. Gave me a personal referral link that gives me additional 2 months for every successful signup I get. Hoping enough co-workers do it so get full year.
