Looks like Woot is offering a Canary Home All in One Security Device for $99.99 (Certified Refurb) and comes with a 1 year subscription from Canary.

https://www.woot.com/?ref=w_gh_w_2

The Device sells for around $109 without a subscription on AMZN

https://www.amazon.com/Canary-All...rds=Canary

and the subscription through Canary is $89.99

Seems like a pretty good offer, I am gonna try this one out

It's basically a free device if you pay for a year's membership which is a great deal if you are comfortable paying for membership.

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Canary will probably do another bait and switch and up the membership cost to $200 after the first year. Terrrrrible company.

This. Without paying for the service it's literally a paperweight.

Without a subscription it's so useless I put it away in our closet. I can't even sell it.

If you buy two, can you use one subscription after the other for effectively two years?

I own the canary all in one, nest, and ring security cameras, and I don't have a subscription service for any of them. In terms of non-paid members, for canary I still think its more than usable. It has intelligent alerts (can tell if its a person), video clips are available for 24 hours (I record my screen while playing the clips to save them if i need to), I like the auto arm and disarm depending when i leave or arrive at home (There is also privacy mode for no recordings). Unlike the nest/ring it detects temperature, humidity, and air quality with the built in sensors - useful when you are away and have a smart thermostat or smart plug hooked up to a humidifier/dehumidifier. The video quality is very respectable 1080p comparable to nest cam. The things I do miss is desktop streaming on the nest . If you care about the two way talk you loose that too compared to nest and ring, but I have never personally used that feature. Other than that, the device looks like it would fit in anywhere and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb imo. Seems like I'm the only one in this thread that seems to not hate it but that's just my experience.

From my understanding if you buy 2 cameras you will have 2 years worth of subscription. They come with codes that do not expire and only are activated once you submit it into the application. In theory if you buy 5 cameras you will have 5 years of subscription.

Please do not do business with this company. I bought this 2 years ago specifically for the included cloud features. I learned my lesson the hard way when they effectively crippled my device, rendering it close to worthless when they removed all the included free features and tried to push me to a paid plan. You should avoid these guys on principle alone.

I have to agree with others. AVOID this company and product.

I had the canary camera for about a year before they put everything useful behind the pay wall. I was able to sell it on EBay before the prices completely crashed when everyone left due to the companies business practices.

I would be cautious in buying multiple year subs because I doubt this company will be around that long (especially with larger companies such as Google, Amazon, etc coming into this security camera market)

I gave a thumbs down expecting to leave the only negative comment, but found people who have experienced the same bait and switch as me. Glad to know I wasnt the only one bothered by their decisions.

Completely with you. This company is scum. Supporting them is empowering the worst in capitalism. They sold a product and after getting an installed user base, revoked all functionality unless you pay them extortion money. It's like Tesla changing it's mind on the 300 mile range, restricting it to 5 miles, and then charging you 1/2 the retail price yearly to use the full 300 miles.

I'm shocked they weren't part of a class action lawsuit. The company was just about broke so they robbed their consumers. I was thinking the security system was supposed to prevent theft from my house. Turns out this whole time it was the Trojan horse for stealing my money.
