The reviews on this on Best Buy and Amazon are really great. https://www.amazon.com/Q534UX-BHI...01N1K5T36/

This is a lot of power-hungry hardware to cram into a 5 pound laptop, and a lot of the time it comes out unreliable and error-prone. Jumping on the first 8th gen may prove to yield you a lemon system, where this model has thousands of reviews and comments already out there about it's faults and issues.

4K IPS screen at 15.6" flip/fold screen is pretty rare, not something you can easily shop for. If that's what you need, this system seems a pretty good deal at $1000.

4k screen with a 950m? Not sure the point when the vid card won't support the resolution for games and other stuff

I run 3 x 4K displays off a 950 and a lowest-end i3 (i3-7100)! It makes perfect sense if you are a software developer doing text all day and do demos. The flip screen is also of use for doing demos as a professional! I can have Netflix full screen on one display while only using 30% or so of my CPU.

Why do people think 4K is all about gaming? On a laptop?! Even showing off your photography work would be awesome on this 4K with a 950m.

You seriously think a 1050m system is out there for $1000 with this quality of assembly and positive reviews? Not with 4K IPS flip screen, much more like https://www.amazon.com/IPS-Type-D...B0753MSN75

I don't think this system is a "slick deal", or "super bargain". But if you need 4K 15.6" screen laptop on a budget that has reviews to research all the quirks and problems, it seems pretty hard to declare this "overpriced".

EDIT: Here is a reasonable comparison (for non gaming), a Samsung 4K with same GPU for $800 that came up last year. https://slickdeals.net/f/10456712-samsung-notebook-9-pro-15-6-4k-laptop-computer-in-store-only-799 - but the storage upgrades and extra RAM would bump up the price. It also has positive reviews, and is 4.5 pounds instead of 5 pounds. But, it's not flip screen and is it IPS?

Aside from build quality. You can get Dell Inspiron 7577 with better spec. But as for the slim profile, you can wait out for the yoga720

Yeah, I got your points. At 900s you get all but 4k display and 2TB, you get 1080p and 1TB.

Sure, if your top priority is storage and 4k, by no means, get this deal. But for my requirements, I don't find it essential to have 2TB and 4k.

Also note that 8th gen CPU is quad core across the board. That's a huge boost

Specs on this look nice, and although price is a "little inflated", its very reasonable. I'm looking for a 2 in 1 Touchscreen JUST like this, except with an NVme SSD (this one is sata3) and an i7 8th gen for my wifes artistic and design work.

For what its worth, this is a "good value" for what you're getting. Granted, if you're buying this to play GPU intensive games, you must not be very savvy when it comes to laptop technology. This machine's intent is not a gaming powerhouse. But for design work, it really knocks it out of the park.

Personally, I'm holding out for an i7 8th gen, nvme ssd, and 1060 system. The new dell 15" xps 2 in 1 and the new hp spectre x360 both fit this bill. While theyre massively overpowered for what my wife needs, the key is battery life and future proofing. Both these devices will be usable for 5+ years for her, and both will offer exceptional battery life, albeit at a higher (but not drastically) price point still cheaper than a surface, and much more efficient in tablet mode.

In current market this is a great deal. I just can't spend $1000 plus tax for an i7-7500u. If this was an 8th gen I would have had to go change my pants.

Price is great for what you get.

I think the only thing holding me back now after reading this, is the lack of USB C charging the laptop.

Everything else for the bill

Note to anyone looking for this kind of usage, a desktop (non-gaming) laptop that they want to future proofing. The power supply (often the motherboard connection) and internal (laptop) overheating is a huge design concern. Especially if you want all that crammed into less weight. The extra weight could be bigger battery and bigger heat-sinks, so don't always think smaller is better. A lot of times it takes months after the systems is released to find out from other customers that the latest model has problems with the power supply connector, etc. Also carefully read long-term owner complaints about flip-screen hinges and the display to motherboard cable problems that develop.

Good catch on "except with an NVme SSD (this one is sata3)". The difference is dramatic.

The bby link makes it look like it supports pen but according to Amazon it does not. For the parts, this seems solid. Yes you can get 8th gen and an Mx150 gpu for this much if you shop around but other things like two in one, 4k, and Thunderbolt are major plusses here that you probably won't get...oh and the 512 ssd.
