I wonder how this Powergate unit compares to the Powergate Max? Both seem to have sub out and wireless streaming with USB dac integrated. Would make a great 2.1 desktop system..

I didn't find the r-14m to be all that great for near field listening. They seemed better suited for a small to mid size room. However if you are adding a sub it may help with the issues I heard for near field listening.

Does anybody have input on the longevity of Powergate? It's a pretty compelling system that checks several boxes that other multi-room streaming devices leave empty, but adoption seems sparse. Would hate to put in for such expensive amps to have them die off in a couple months.

This has the Powergate for roughly $160. That item is a Maxed out highly Featured Amp, normally sells at $499

Aside from maybe being a little bulkier, why not just get an AV receiver over the powergate?

if you already have one sure, but show me a 2 channel stereo receiver that does 2x100 rms for ~160 with all the features this has.

In for 1. That's a killer amp and I've been looking to replace my cheapo amp in my bedroom running my M-Audio BX5s. Plus I wouldn't mind a set of rears to go with my R28fs. Gotta keep my main set copper! Thanks!
