I've recently seen deals for travel guides and wanted to offer this suggestion to my fellow Slickdeals travelers.

Before spending money on travel guides which will add weight to your luggage and eventually, become outdated, consider the following;
Overdrive [overdrive.com]
Overdrive is FREE. You sign up with your library card and access ebooks and audiobooks. Ebooks are fantastic for travel guides.
They add no weight beyond your smartphone (most of us are carrying this anyway).
You don't even have to worry about returning the books because they are automatically returned/removed from your library when the loan period ends.
Ebooks are very small files which can be downloaded to your device so you can read them offline. They are often available as Kindle books as well.

Rick Steves [ricksteves.com] FREE audio walking tours
Rick Steves website offers multiple audio walking tours for FREE download.
I downloaded a whole bunch on my recent trip to Rome. The ones I used were very good.

We spend LOTS of money when we travel. Why spend needlessly when there are free options available.
