Kodi - Anyone else use it?

I have the firestick with Kodi. If it would work more smoothly, I'd cut my cable but I have some concerns.

My new increased cable bill came in. I just get tired of fighting the cable company and would love to cut the cable except for internet. I'm scared though. It would be an adjustment for sure. I'd miss live TV and DVRing.

Kodi would be great but most times I go to look for a movie, it is bad quality, not 100% of movie there...end cut off, etc.

Also it may take 1/2 hour to find the move if there at all. I get stressed and fed up and give up because Kodi is slow and it takes forever to find what you want.

I've never gone in Kodi to look for TV shows or live sports (not sure that even exists). Someone said it's like 'On Demand' to watch TV shows. You can't see them live, but most get posted to watch later.

Is it just me or does most everyone else have the same frustrations? Any advice would be welcome.

You could try Terrarium TV or ShowBox if you have an android phone or tablet.. Both have tons of TV and movies. I cast to Chromecast from my phone. One thing you might be able to do............is drop your TV services from cable and then later after a couple months, you might be able to resign at an introductory price.

If you want Kodi to be fast, install it on a real computer. Wink A firestick is very light on CPU power. It's simply not the right tool for the job. Frown

Thanks both of you. I appreciate it.

Thankfully a miracle happened and AT&T Uverse lowered my bill lower than I was paying....unbelievable so I guess I'll stick with cable TV. I was dreading having to rely on Kodi, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc.

Now I'm paying 80.00 for 2 DVRs, 24 Mbps internet and 400+ channels. I think cable companies are giving better deals with so many other options out there now.

Let's remember that Kodi is like the operating system, and within that are add-ons. The add-ons are like channels which you search through and show the results. So it's possible you just need to try a different add-on that works for you better. The whole dang world uses Exodus. That said, Exodus is still about 85% good for me. Yeah, sometimes a certain show will never find an open server. But most of the time it works pretty well. ..... I guess you could pay for membership on a particular server. ~$8/month for a guaranteed spot to watch anything is better than $80+/month for no control over what's shown.

Regardless, still WAY WAY better than paying through the nose to a bunch of a-hole cable companies who generally don't know their a-hole from a hole in the ground.

Yes, Exodus is what I usually search in. Still it takes forever to load only to find out no link works. It's just very slow to load everything but once I find a good link, I'm usually good but it's just time consuming to find that good link.

Check out the option settings and use the auto-play (I think it's called) feature. Then it searches for all servers, then searches for an open server and starts playing it right away without your interaction. Not really any quicker, but seems quicker because it just does everything while you're getting another beer.

OH! And some servers want to verify that you're a human before they'll let you play. So if you turn OFF the feature I just described, select the server yourself, and it pops up with the "Visit URL: blah blah blah", visit from your cell phone on WiFi (must be on same network as firestick) and just click the I AM HUMAN link. It then verifies you as human and allows play for 4 hours. I've found that these allow nearly any video to play nearly every time. Kind of a pain in the ass, but it only takes 10 seconds and only is needed when no other playable servers can be found.

Great advice. Thanks! I will give it a try.

Kodi is outdated. It's like idiots who say they want Windows XP back, when the newer operating systems provide much more functions.

Try Mobdro or Terrarium TV.

Most recent reason why everyone should be armed at all times:
Santa Fe, TX school shooting. 10 killed 10 wounded.
This was a gun free zone. The shooter didn't care. Gun free zones only hurt honest citizens. If someone was armed there could've been 1 less death.
