Odd how deals from That Daily Deal, or any of the Jammin' Butter sites (lol), are never posted by anyone other than SD employees.

It's a tsunami of spam and I'm here to fight the tide.

Found it at another deal site, thought $2.50 a shirt wasnt bad Dontknow
Last time I posted for them was one time on 2/29/2016 and before that, 2015, so I hardly think I am "spamming"

I just did a search on SD for 'thatdailydeal' and looked at the last 11 deals that were posted. Here is a summary of the OPs for those 11 deals:

Tranquil (SD Staff) posted 7 of them
Major Gatsby (SD Staff) posted 2 of them
slickdewmaster (SD FP Deal Editor) posted 1
daisybeetle (SD Deal Editor) posted 1

You guys aren't even doing a good job of hiding the fact that you're being paid to promote this rubbish.

At this point, even if it was a great deal, I'd be reluctant to buy anything from these guys because they're so obviously trying to mislead people. Prime example of their original intent in duping buyers backfiring.

We don't get paid to post deals. I post what I like, what I think members might like, and what I think is a good price. I post tons for Macys and Kohls, because I know those stores well. So there is nothing to hide....

So - Tranquil just happens to post every single deal that shows up on their site on his / her own, not having been directed to do so by SD HQ? I'm going to go ahead and call BS on that.

ETA: I'll just go ahead and leave these here:

Tstarks is a dope for sure.. DaisyBeetle has saved me and others hundreds of dollars....
You may have missed the point. I have no qualms at all with DaisyBeetle, which I think you'll find quite clear if you read through what I actually said.

Where my problem lies is the apparent manipulation that takes place with deal threads for retailers that SD is in bed with. Deals get posted by employees, not by normal non-paid users, and then voted up like crazy by other employees.

Look in this thread. It's +7 and not one comment in here is from anyone indicating that they're buying the item or think it's a good deal. That's despite my thumbs down and at least a few others that have voted this thread down.

I've voted up plenty of other threads posted by Daisy, and when the threads are for deals that I think are good, I will continue to do so. I will also, however, continue to call attention to this very obvious pattern of shilling for That Daily Deal by SD employees.

That's not how it works. but it's close. This IS how it works, so read it and understand once and for all and move on with your life. Slickdeals gets makes money on everything posted on this site whether by mods or regular people. They get paid through affiliated networks for every sale and some places (rarely) even pay for every click. These companies, such as Daily Deal and all others DO email slickdeals, and all other companies that are part of these affiliates, a list of deals each day. Sites like slickdeals will also get preferential treatment and their own coupon codes for extra discounts because they send so much business. These mods go through the emails, or maybe even sometimes find the deals on other sites, and then post them for your pleasure here. That is why you see only the mods posting these deals - which are generally mediocore deals, but still semi good deals. Only mods post them because they are half way good deals that they cherry pick from the deals presented to them at the beginning of each day.

Now having said all that.. they are NOT paid to specificall post these deals. Daily deals doesn't say hey ill give you $50 to post this deal for me. But they ARE paid for each sale they make. So each $10 set they sell maybe they make $1 or whatever it is. They do have an incentive to post good deals because in the end they will get paid for sales but not an incentive to post utter crap because that won't get any sales and they don't get paid anything to make the post. So that is why Slickdeals basically breaks down to this: Mods post mediocre deals from affiliates to try to drum up sales and the best deals on slickdeals are generally found by random users who find a one off item on sale for a great price

You're not wrong, but I think you're missing the final piece. Yes, there is monetary incentive to SD for promoting / posting deals from retailers where there is a commission or cashback.

It's because of this financial incentive that they manipulate the voting on those deals to make them appear more popular than they are. Deals will hit FP faster and the thumbs up score is artificial so that the casual SD user will be more likely to buy and therefore contribute to the commission to SD.

If they kept SD Live the way it used to be, where you could see who was voting a thread up / down, this would be super easy to prove. Without that transparency, they can have shills / bots / employees promote threads for retailers where there is a healthy commission structure.

We don't manipulate the voting.
The reason we stopped showing voting via Live feed was due to a couple of top posting OPs (back in the day) calling out/shaming members if they TDd the thread. The OP s in question were taking it very personally and making a public dressing-down of other members. Not cool.

This way people can vote more freely and thus... more fair voting.
