The second of his late period work. Heinlein made two major changes of direction, and when he changed his writing style/underlying themes, he totally changed things up. Friday came after Number of the Beast, which was his first story during his late period. Friday was a slightly more conventional story arc, and was better for it IMHO, as the first novel, Number of the Beast, (spoiler alert - highlight the blank area (got into some time and parallel dimension travel in the last third with snarky commentary on other classic SF universes that while well-deserved didn't really move the plot forward particularly)). It presaged The Cat Who Walks through Walls and at least to me that and the OP are the two best works from his last novels. You might want to check your local library, many of them have a fair bit of Heinlein's works (be aware his early works are often in Juvenile/YA sections).

Pretty much the only reason I clicked on this notification. I expected to see Chris Tucker and Ice Cube.

I reread this recently, it's more adult then I remembered it from my teen years.

Some of the negative reviews really made me wince...this one may be a little too dated at this point.
