Has anyone that's used the EDU rebate have any issues before with buying two lens?
Really want to dive for the 24-70 and 70-200 at these amazing prices.
Thank you in advance!

Also, for EDU discount, all you need is an ID from an accepted school right?

Yes, I received educational rebates on two lenses (I believe they have to be different lenses; you can't get rebates on two of the same lens). Just today I got my $300 check for the 70-200 G2; last month I got a $250 educational rebate on the 24-70 G2. Both took almost exactly a month between mailing the rebate materials and receiving a check. Both lenses were purchased from Buydig.

Pretty much everything you want to know about the educational rebate is here [tamron-usa.com]. I think you might need more than an ID, but check the T&C. There is also an e-mail address for a contact person whom I found very friendly and helpful. I believe if your school isn't on the list, you can contact them and they will consider adding it.

The EDU rebate makes these fantastic deals.

I had a counteroffer of $1149 from Greentoe for the 70-200 G2 very recently.

I wish that the 150-600 G2 was back on sale for $1,050.

I'm undecided in what lens to get first. 70-200 for its constant 2.8 aperture and image quality or the 150-600 for its reach.

I did as well and accepted. I'm pretty happy but haven't tested that much.

Great deal on the 70-200. I've been using it for about two months. Mainly to shoot kids basketball games. Fast AF, very sharp. Pretty good for portraits as well. Very, very pleased with the purchase.

Were you able to get the current rebate with the greentoe offer for a final price of $1049?

Also, I haven't used greentoe yet - I know it comes from an authorized reseller but is it from one we've all heard of and would trust?? (If you had problems with the lens, would you have any trouble returning or exchanging it?)

Don't know yet. I just sent in the rebate last week after 3 weeks. I did register the warranty successfully so I don't think it will be an issue. The company is in PA and I never heard of it. But I googled it afterwards and it is a registered dealer with something like 6 shops in PA and virtually no online presence. Yelp reviews were positive.

Assuming I get the rebate, I think I'd be pretty comfortable going through Greentoe again, goofy name aside.

What do you usually shoot? I think the 70-200 is far more usable unless you really need that 600 focal length. Seems more of a specific use vs for daily shooting.
