From the executive chairman:

"Increasingly, a small, but growing number of customers has been interpreting our guarantee well beyond its original intent. Some view it as a lifetime product replacement program, expecting refunds for heavily worn products used over many years. Others seek refunds for products that have been purchased through third parties, such as at yard sales."

Sounds like a sensible policy change to me. Humans being humans and so forth.

Agreed. I was actually at their main store last month, making a legit return. The line was sooooo long, it wrapped around and around. There was a guy in back of me with a pair of boots that had the entire front ripped off and was being held together with duct tape. They were very old dirty boots. Well, he left with a brand new pair. I honestly could not believe it. Another woman had a very old pair of jeans and said they didn't hold up as she hoped. Left with a new pair of jeans. I must say, I am not surprised at all at this change of policy. The abuse was just awful in my opinion.
