Who doesn't love the Falcon, but $800 for Legos? Wow. Just wow. Are the pieces made of titanium?

To put that in perspective, you could get a 60" 4K HDTV and a PS4 Pro (with SW BF2!) for that price.
Both if which will rapidly lose value

Still commenting about the price! This set was announced months ago. For the number of pieces, it's priced about right. It IS after the all the largest set ever made.

[Update] upon re-reading shabazz' statement, I think the implication was that both the TV and PS4 Pro will lose value (which I agree with!), not the Lego. My first reading assumed that the Lego would also go down in value (I don't think it will.) So apologies to shabazz!.

Actually... wrong about that[edit: no, maybe not wrong!] The TV and game system, yes, definitely, within 5-10 years or so they become close to worthless and you may need to pay a "disposal fee" for the large LCD panel. Gamestop might give you $50-100 for the PS4. (I'm talking 5-10 years, not current trade values)

The Lego set, if still NIB, will almost certainly be worth more than today's price. Maybe not *a lot* more. 10 years ago people weren't stocking up on expensive Lego to put in warehouses and hope to "flip" later. Today they are, and I think that's where most of the initial stock of these went. Lego has said they will continue to make enough of these so that people who want one will eventually get one. At least, those are the hints. They might produce it for a few years -- nobody knows for sure.

Even if you open it and bulid it, if you have all the pieces and the books (and avoid dog hair and smoke), it probably will never lose much value. It might still be worth more than the purchase price eventually. The TV and game system never will.
