I posted this in another thread and will post it here as well.

Just to warn everyone, this (and every) laptop that uses Nvidia Optimus technology suffers from the mouse stuttering issue (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-...136608865e). Microsoft, Nvidia, and Intel have let this issue sit for years and it may never get fixed. It is extremely annoying. The only way to work around it is to use something like https://github.com/jobeid/TrayPwrD3 which will prevent your 1060 from turning off or to manually disable the 1060 GPU in device manager while you aren't using it.

Another issue is the Realtek audio. It is just terrible. The driver constantly eats 5-10% CPU with its "enhancements" (which of course can't be turned off in any that saves the CPU). Worse, the sound card goes to sleep after 10 seconds being idle. This leads to constant lag when first starting anything with audio. Luckily, both of these issues can be worked around as well by reverting to the default Windows HD audio driver and following this guide (https://www.dell.com/community/Ge...483/page/2) to prevent the popping. It will save you CPU and you won't get constant audio delay.

Lastly, the HDMI port only connects to the Nvidia 1060. You cannot use the iGPU through the HDMI port. If you want to use HDMI and still have access to both GPUs, get a USB-C to HDMI cable and use the thunderbolt port.

Overall, it is still a good laptop. I was able to undervolt both the CPU and iGPU by .14 volts which helps it to keep running cool. However, avoid all the stress i went through by following the tips above.

I have this laptop, and I would highly recommend undervolting the CPU. Dropped my temps about 10C and the fans don't run as loud. YMMV though with the silicon lottery.

For a 1060 this is pretty good.

Can probably add g-sync and 75hz, and go i7 if you opt for the asus rog ones, similar priced i believe

Costco deal is unpredictable. Good thing they have easy return policy for up to 90 days.

Just keep the box and receipt. You should be fine when something else better pop up.

I got this laptop back in December at Costco. Then the deal was $700+tax, but I have yet to see anything close to that deal since then. The screen is mediocre, but the build is solid, and runs Doom 60fps on high settings. It is pretty big for a 15.6" laptop.

Does it get real hot? Fan run loud?

Also, do you know if it's possible to add a hd (non SSD)?

Has increased prices for graphics cards kept pre built laptop prices from dropping?

I know the cards themselves have gone up in price - wasn't sure if pre built laptops were also affected.
