What's the "Recruit" edition? Never heard of it.

I think it's the budget basic version.

No its the new definitive version with add-ons for multiplayer, includes everything from the standard (or deluxe) editions.

Despite general consensus, I really enjoyed the hell out of this game. It was far from perfect, but it was pretty enjoyable. Bummed the series is on ice, would've liked to see where the story was going

Same. The main character was very charismatic.

I logged like 70 hours in this game. Had some faults but too bad we won't see any more stories from this line.

This doesn't get old even if they patched some issues AFTER all the complaints: https://youtu.be/7KWkao73HuU

I wouldn't touch this and support what EA did to this once magnificent series. They had the budget yet treated it like an ugly stepchild given off to a B-team developer and writer.

Is there any advantage to the deluxe version as seems to be only multiplayer content which I don't plan on playing

Eh. At a certain point, the goal of not supporting the game has been achieved...or it wouldn't be a well-known failure even though people actually like the story. As much as people keep trying to down this and also Metal Gear Survive (both again for valid reasons), I wish people would work as hard to make other series "pay" for their transgressions to the gamer base they depend on. My example is Destiny 2.

Yes you also get the deluxe version stuff that you don't get with standard recruit: Pathfinder Casual Outfit, Scavenger Armor, Pathfinder Elite Weapon Set (4), Pet Pyjak, Digital Soundtrack and Multiplayer Deluxe Launch Pack.

Just because the goal has been achieved, in your eyes, doesn't mean the points aren't valid anymore. People were complaining about Destiny 2 and lootboxes, including making fun of them, but that game is just too popular to have an observable measure of effect.

On the other hand, consumer campaigns were successful like with Star Wars Battlefront 2 which suffered because of lootboxes, and many are really concerned about Red Dead Redemption 2 being ruined by what Rockstar did with GTA V and their greed, never delivering on single player content because they found a fat milking cow.

Okay, so if I understand you correctly, the "Recruit" versions are exactly like their non-Recruit counterparts with multiplayer added?
