Try changing the video card in this when it goes obsolete. The power supply will usually have an incompatible connector for any potential GPU. Don't buy gaming PCs from companies that don't allow you to upgrade. Send your business to small gaming computer makers instead.

Dell is putting their gaming PCs on sale, that usually means Nvidia has told them that their new cards will be released soon... I'd be patient. There will be bigger discounts coming.
This model is pretty upgradable.

Incompatible connector? Usually the end of these cables, that connect to say a modular PS are what could be incompatible(with a different PS). This GPU can most definitely be upgraded to the next generation.

That's totally not true. The connectors are universal and the PS is fine up to GTX 1080. If anything will be the limiting factor it will be the physical case.

It's still a Dell, which means cheap ram, cheap proprietary mobo, and cheap ssd that you probably wouldn't buy yourself.

Completely false statement. This is FB where you can just make up facts and expect us to go along with it buddy.

No gpu for my needs. Onboard graphics is sufficient. It's a very high end media Pc that does tons of transcoding which is all cpu.

tough crowd! but yeah Dell will piss you off sooner or later. Old man Dell didn't get to be a ba-ba-ba-billionaire by keeping the gaming crowd happy. I recall he once said that people who upgrade their computers are idiots. Not sure and I probably could not find it on the web. He also said that Apple should have closed and gave their shareholders their monies when that were in trouble. Jobs jammed it down his throat later on.
