In store only and not a good price imo when the 1400h is routinely 349 (or that one time it was 249) after codes. Target price for this should be 200

good to know. I went in store to look at it and decided to wait on the 1400 for the better Audyssey

The x4400h is also on sale for $899 for those looking for a 9 channel receiver.

Totally agree. I'm waiting for another 1400 or 2400 deal.

FYI the fry's twitter ad preview for tomorrow has a 799 receiver marked down to 399 after promo code. My guess is it's the x2400. Either that or some onkyo; they're the only 2 at that price, but my guess is the Denon as it's been marked down to this price before. In store only. Probably worth it if you can stretch your budget.

I think it is the x2400h. That's the only one they discount from $799 to $398. The picture in the ad means nothing..

Code works now. Not sure if this beats the Yamaha 7810 at Costco though.

Isn't the Yamaha at Costco 80 more?

For now. I'm betting it will go down to $399 again in the next month or so. But I'm impatient and can save the tax by buying the 2400 from Frys, so looks like I'm in for a 2400!

Yea I was between the Yamaha, waiting for the Sony STR-DN1080 to go on sale again and this Denon. The room correction for the Yamaha is supposed to be mediocre.

My last Denon had some issues with build quality and it's on it's last legs after just 4 years. I bit the bullet with this. I figure I can always return it if I'm not happy.

I've read too many reviews saying that the Denon's sound is better than the Yamaha's, and also that Audyssey is better than YPAO. I take care of my stuff, so I'm hoping the longevity issue will be eliminated. I bought with a Citi Costco card, so I have an extension on the Denon's three year warranty already. The limited number of 2.2 HDMI connections on the Yamaha was a black mark too.

Back in my college days I had a Sony receiver and LOVED it's sound, then had a Sony head unit in a car that sounded by far the best when A-B'ing at various stores. I was interested in the 1080 but Sony seems to be behind everyone else with receivers.

I'm still having a little buyer's remorse though, wondering if it's worth the extra $100 to get the higher level Audyssey (and more) in the 3400. Unfortunately though, I'm nowhere near a Frys and the 3400 is near impossible to get with shipping when it gets marked down.
