Means it doesn't have Nickel in it. You want 18/10 other wise it will rust.

It will rust sooner than silverware with nickel in it. That said, I always wondered why a friend bought 18/0: his autistic sons threw utensils in the trash soon after using them. Jokes on me as I always thought he was cheap.

Yea, silverware with nickel lasts longer, but they also cost more. It also depends on how you treat them. If you use dishwasher with harsher chemicals, then you want more nickel. If not, 18/0 can work just fine. I've been using a 18/0 silverware set I bought 2 years without any issues. I handwash them as I don't have a dishwasher.
