Speaking of, I hate the way that these companies advertise their electric tools.

They say the battery is something "amp hours" as if that tells you what the capacity is and the mower in volts, as if that tells you what the power is. Both are completely and totally meaningless in and of itself.

They should be telling us the battery capacity in watt hours and the mower power in horsepower or watts.

Otherwise you'd think, well a 5AH battery is twice the capacity of a 2.5AH battery, but you'd be wrong if its a 5AH battery for a 40V system vs a 2.5AH battery for a 80V system, in which case the capacity is identical.

Likewise, the voltage of a mower doesn't tell you the whole story, since its volts * amps that makes power, and they don't tell you how many amps it is. And beside that, they never advertise the nominal (meaning actual normal voltage) of the unit, which is always lower than the peak, and they don't tell you if its brushed or brushless, when a brushed motor tool needs higher power to do the same amount of work as a brushless one. Ugh...

Am I mistaken? BJ has same exact deal for same price but with bonus extra battery?

good price, but I can't find the battery type included. 2ah or 4ah, if it's 4 this is a really good deal.

edit: found it, Includes one 40V GMAX 2.0ah battery (29462) and one 40V GMAX charger (29482). Confused because it looks like the 4ah in the picture.

I feel you, been in electronics for going on 20 years. This voltage "arms race" between cordless drill manufacturers is nothing more than their advertising dept discovering a new tag line.

4 amphour at 40v is 160 watts. 4 amphour at 80v is 320 watts.

multiply the volts times amps to pretty much find how many watts

So will this cut the edges for how many minutes in your opinion?

Close but not quite. These manufacturers rate the cells as 4v (max), which is not their correct nominal voltage. When calculating watt hours you must use 3.6v or 3.7v.

So 4Ah * 36v = 144 Whr. And 4Ah @ 72v = 288 Whr.
