I found this one day deal which ends at 9PM. I ordered it for myself. I thought it was a pretty good deal. 2 x 16gb of DDR4 2666mhz. They also have an I7 8700k processor and msi gaming board m5 for $499. These were not promo code deals, and not in the main adds. Hopefully others may find it useful.

This seems like a lot for RAM, but I guess if you need 64GB then it fits.

I remember picking up 2 sets of 32GB (4sticks) for $70 (each) on Amazon. Granted, it was only 2133 vs. 2666, but I don't see any slowdowns.

I bust through witcher 3 on 8gb of ddr3 no problem. Not sure what 32gb does.

If you just game this isn't worth it.

Noob question, if you need that much wouldn't you be using a server with ecc ram?

I have 32 and often use over 20. I built my pc for work and play. And no, I would not be better with ecc ram nor do I need a server.

Fry's has run this deal a couple times for the Patriot DDR4 32gb for $300. Working out to $150 per 16gb (plus tax) this isn't a horrible deal considering today's current DDR4 prices. Cheapest acceptable 16gb kit I've seen is $160.

However I've read that the prices should start to go south again later this year, as SK ramps it's production back up again (nevermind all the price fixing accusations) .

I wanted to see how much of my 32gb ram I could use.

Opened 52 chrome tabs,
Converting (1080? Don't remember) through Premier,
Battleground running in the background,
Movie playing the background

Lol think it crashed at about 23gb and it was still rising.. Sooo yea it doesn't really take much

That's me some days. Minus the ton of tabs and movies. Converting 4k videos and photos. Though my i8700k really helped a ton will this. I haven't used all 32 but never expected to.

If all I did was game I'd probably be good with 8GB. But would consider 16. Sometimes I run more than one game at once. And at times things crash. In my experience if a crash takes up 100% of the ram it slows the PC down to a crawl. Having more than you need prevents this.

What is the argument being made here? Because they didn't need it has nothing to do with rather or not somebody else does.

My laptop only had 8GB at stock. I finally upgraded to 16. Best move I've ever made. My catalogues are loading much faster.
