I bought this trash for my parents, it has so much advertisement / popups it's annoying. With all the garbage that it comes with you'd assume it was free.

It's missing a lot of features, when you click on them they attempt to get you to upgrade.

You need Sunday's code to make it FAR. Ask around for a spare code if you don't have one. HTH.

I use to use avast and even paid for pro once. Not only does it use a lot of resources the popup ads were absolutely annoying. I use to recommend the free version but that ones even worse with ads. I've been using ESET nod32 for about 7 years now and can't recommend it enough. Very light on resources, and it frequently comes on sale on newegg.

does eset let you configure your options on what to install

The bad thing about most anti viruses is that now they pick everything for you with no custom options.

I know AT LEAST 40-50% of people complaining that their anti virus is slow is because they are just choosing express installs and not even looking at WHAT is being installed .

For example alot of people complain mcafee is terribly slow and that '' things install'' and make it slower. Well for the past decade i have been using macafee and i always choose CUSTOM install and its hardly slow for me. But now since late 2017 their UI changed and i can't choose custom anymore

Ive been using Avast pro for about a month or so purchased from the last newegg deal.

Initially it was very annoying with the product popups, but you can go into Settings and turn those off. You can also set it to silent/game mode if you need to, but after turning off those product popups its been fine. If you check the AV tests, it also generally beats eset.
