This processor is good for a productivity or entry-level gaming machine. It's faster than the Ryzen 2200G and 1300X, but for gaming it really needs a discrete GPU.

This usually goes for $120-130, but this deal is especially good for California residents (like me!) because of no sales tax.

"but for gaming it really needs a discrete GPU."...unlike the $99 AMD 2200G which is on par with an nvidia GT1030 discrete card (generally no less than $80) and provides a shockingly good gaming ecperience for 720p/1080p in most situations. So, hmmm...a $190 setup with higher power consumption or a single $99 chip with lower power consumption...and a much longer upgrade path given the 2200g uses the newer AM4 chipset. Also the 2200g when overclocked trades blows with the i3-8100 (Which cant be overclocked). The i3 at this pricr is not a good deal for anyone except those who already have an 1151 motherboard.

Rofl! This is so so sad!!!!! My 3570k from 2011 OUTPERFORMS this i3!!! Is this a cruel joke by Intel to get rid of their shittiest binned processors or what? (binned = lower grade processors due to variance in manufacturing result)

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Comp...1316vs3942

This thing isn't worth more than $20 for a mining rig.

whats even more sad... the 3570k's were binned i7's!!! FROM OVER 7 YEARS AGO FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this isn't blowing your mind you're tech illiterate and shouldn't be buying any hardware right now, wait for crypto crash and buy up cheap shit!

What are you speaking about?

The 3570k you're mentioning is an i5, not an i7. It was released in the middle of 2012, so less than 6 years ago. This i3 has a lower TDP. It supports double the memory and a newer memory standard.

Also, synthetic bench marks aren't the only thing. Newer chipsets. And Samsung, AMD, Qualcomm, etc. all do binning for their CPUs. The GPU makers do it. It's called efficiency.

Your point though has some validity. Yes, CPUs don't make the leaps and bounds they used to. You can't overclock them into beast mode with a pencil. A solid build, especially not reliant on graphics, can last 5 years with no effort and longer.
