Like to give thanks to the recent posting for the Vitamix 780 which is expired. I wouldn't have found this deal otherwise. Personally I prefer the 5300 over the 780. Same size motor, just different housing and the 780 is push button/automatic, the 5300 is all manual with toggles.

Why waste money on a Vitamix when you can get a Blendtec?

Nothing. Well, except maybe the "will it blend" videos.

I didn't think there was a big difference in price. Aren't they both comparable? I searched for some comparison reviews, but there was nothing conclusive, just subjective opinions. I have been thinking about getting one. I bought a Ninja, but it is apparently not as good.

Thanks OP. Ordered a 5300 tonight from Vitamix -- coupon is still valid. Wish I had caught the sale on the touchscreen 780? with built in programs.

Costco has the E320 on sale for $299.99 with 7 year warranty.
I decided on the 5300 for the 4" blade diameter vs 3" on the E320. The 5300 also has a smaller footprint and is 0.75" shorter, good to fit under cabinets.

Does it have the same issue as traditional blenders where the spinning blades create a big air pocket at the bottom of thick paste?

Just ordered and spoke to rep. He said this one is 3/4 of an inch shorter so it fits underneath cabinets. And it is wider with larger blades and has a 2.2 hp motor vs 2.0. Also use code PPSAVE to get free cutting boards when using pay pal. I got a free book and cutting boards included!
