The HRM chest strap is $130 retail so not quite $150 --- but yes -- great deal still. Just got a Fenix 5 the other day so I guess maybe I give the Vivo to a friend?

This is an incredible deal. I would buy if I didn't already own both.

So will this work for a high schooler track athlete? I have no knowledge of watches so I'd appreciate if anyone could help me out.

Looks like I might be able to sell the HRM strap for around 100 bucks...in for 1!

I've had mine since November, came from a Fitbit Surge. First, this thing is a TON better, with great battery life for regular use. Naturally, when you start using the GPS (I bike & run), it tends to need a charge more often. When I'm being sedentary (aka lazy), i can get it to last about a week on a charge. I get all my texts and emails directly on the watch face as well.

Highly recommend.

I purchased this watch for $250 the day it was released in 2016. It was awfully glitchy at first and the screen completely separated from the body a few months ago HOWEVER at this price I will buy it again. Perhaps I got a bad unit. In addition, the reviews on the Vivoactive 3 are lukewarm.

How does the watch itself compare to the non HR watch? I have the vivoactive non HR that I use to track my running when I referee soccer and it allows me to see the GPS map and overlay my first half and second half "runs" over top to see if I am doing a proper diagonal or not (most of the time, I am not). Just wondering if this has another set of bells and whistles that would apply to reffing. Thanks in advance.

Yes, but the wrist-based HRM isn't as accurate as the band.
