If you played sun/moon I would pass on this. Pretty much identical games.

If you are brand new to this generation it is definitely worth a buy.

I played Sun and enjoyed it, but playing Ultra Moon is a drag because the story line is identical with very few variances.

What if I didn't play sun/moon? Would I miss out on anything?

No you would actually gain a few more Pokémon and extra missions

Do you think I will like Ultra Sun if I am a HUGE fan of Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal only?? I really dislike all of the generation afterward

I think you'd enjoy it.

I've only played Blue (1st Gen), Diamond (4th Gen), and Sun/Ultra Moon (7th Gen) and I thoroughly enjoyed all of them.

There are enough changes and quality of life adjustments that made things feel a bit fresh.

There are some minor annoyances like forcing you to use the stylus and doing the pet mini games, but other than that a great experience.

Pokemon Sun/Moon were legitimately fun games. The new generation of mons were not as eye-catching or memorable but the gameplay was the best of the series so far.

If you haven't played Sun/Moon, get Ultra. If you have, like me, avoid Ultra like the plague.

Ultra Sun only shows as available at Walmart for me which means only free shipping over $35. Ultra Moon however shows as OP describes.

Too many Pokemon games. It's so confusing.

I dislike how they're making "sequels" now like Black & White 2 instead of an alternate 3rd version like yellow/crystal/emerald/platinum. These sequel games basically play the same role as the previous 3rd version but I guess Nintendo makes more money if they split them into 2 versions instead of 1.
