I have some color bulbs that I set to certain colors depending on the status of different sensors. For instance I have some lights that turn red when the garage door is open. I have a lamp by the back door that turns blue when the side gate ia open so no one lets the dogs out when the gate is open. I have one on my front porch that I set to different colors depending on the holiday. Other than that I have the White bulbs and like those for everyday use.

Well they aren't Daylight white but they're a pretty standard looking lightbulb. I guess it comes down to the beholder mostly.

Fyi - white smart is a bit misleading, 2700k is a very warm temperature. These will not be white in color.

Anyone have any colored Philips Hue bulbs and if so, are they worth it? They seem a bit steep for around $50 each... should I just wait for a sale for them to come by? I got my Philips Hue system set up last night and I won't lie: I like it a lot.

Agreed. I like 2700 but when compared against 5000k they look much more "yellow".. Or you can say that 5000k looks whiter or even blueish if it's a cheap bulb/poor cri. I keep kitchen/bathroom cooler and livingroom/bedroom warmer.

Color bulbs are gimmicky IMO. My wife thinks they're tacky. They are cool for friends once or twice, but they're too expensive. I'm ordering these to replace the bedroom lights.

I have 7 colored ones and 24 white ones so far. I wish I could replace all the white with the colored but that's crazy expensive talk - I do like the colored ones. Fun to set a mood and I have high hopes for some future apps to analyze my projector screen for the prevalent color and change the lighting to match. I've seen some apps but the reviews aren't great, if I recall correctly I think there was supposed to be a computer application that did that coming out at some point.

Also - they do go on sale every so often - I bought most of mine around black friday, but I picked up a 4 colored with hub for $120ish through bestbuy/ebay I think? About a week ago - thread should be somewhere on slickdeals - I have a deal alert set for "hue".
