FREE $2 Google Play Credit - YMMV

Sorry but I'm a total noob at posting deals. I just received an email from Google to claim $2 in google play credit for free. Not sure who this is specifically targeted to so YMMV. I was able to successfully claim this and my account has been credited. Looks like you can use it for anything on the play store, not just games.

Is your Google account fairly new? I see these posted on Slickdeals from time to time but I haven't gotten any in my gmail inbox in years. It would be nice to know why some get them and some don't.

Nope, I've had a Google account for years. Not sure how they are choosing recipients so my guess is as good as yours but I am heavily invested into Google's ecosystem (android phone, google home, chromecast, etc).

If you have the app "Google opinion rewards" you occasionally get a short Google survey, upon completion you get a small credit (usually 20-60 cents) towards anything in the Google play store, including in app purchases. I've used my credits towards coins in Pokemon go. I've also noticed since I've actively started answering these surveys (usually related to places you visit, like 1-2 per week) I've occasionally gotten emails with similar 2$ credits. I believe it depends how active you are with Google related apps.
