I bought a rice cooker that cracked and this bought this model to replace it. I love it... except the instructions are lacking. Make sure that the vents alternate for best results, don't line the inner and outer lids, make sure the vents on outer are 1/2 way between the inner.

My first cooker had a chart that made it brainless to cook rice. It used a 3/4 cup "scoop" that I now use with this cooker, to make perfect rice use the following ( 1 scoop yields 1.5 scoop cooked rice)

Rice..............Water................Cooking time
1 scoop.........1.5 scoop..........9 minutes
2 scoops........3 scoops..........13 minutes
3 scoops........4.5 scoops.......15 min
4 scoops........5.25 scoops.....18 min
5 scoops........6.5 scoops........20 min
6 scoops........7.5 scoops........22 min

Someone smarter than me can covert it from 3/4 cup units. But my math skills are lacking

You can steam veggies as well
1/8 cup of water and 3 minutes for:
Asparagus
Broccoli
Carrots
Green beans
Cauliflower

People who obviously don't own or have NEVER used this product are giving bad advice.
I have had mine over 5 years, I have used it probably close to 100 times. It is my go to rice cooking device. I can pull it out of the microwave without oven mitts, so no idea how people say that it gets so hot it melts.

Buy it, Try it... If you hate it, return it. Amazon will return a 1/2 eaten burrito if you are not happy with the first few bites....

Save your money. A real rice cooker costs about $15. Even the cheapest real rice cooker will do a much better job.

I was about to get one to make rice in the office but it takes a long time to make rice. Hogging the microwave for 15 minutes during lunchtime is a nice way to piss off everyone at work.

Had someone try this in the office it left a strong cooked rice smell lingering for a while.

Agreed ! I have tried microwaveable rice cooker. It's hard to cook and not evenly.

Don't buy this guys. Not a good product. Makes bad, unevenly cooked rice. Plus what situation would you use this over a regular rice cooker?
