If you loved the books but thought this movie was a letdown, I highly suggest buying the old BBC version. Covers multiple books and is over three hours long.

You beat me to it. The BBC version is streets ahead of this one. The CGI for 1981 was amazing and holds up today.

Also, this is slickdeals. You can find the BBC version for free on YouTube.

It's been years since I read the book, and I still don't know how I feel about it. So weird, with British comedy/with mixed with crazy sci-fi story telling, and off-the-wall situations they all get in. Man, I'm confused just thinking about it again. Is there a good Cliff notes I could read to calm my brain down? Lol

A lot of people complain about the changes, but, I have read that Adams is the one who made the changes from book to series to movie.

I thought the movie was about as good as I could have hoped for (saw it in the theater on opening day with a friend, both of us with our towels present).

The book that the band Level 42 got their name from.

The video game was really popular. I know it was especially on the C64. "You wake up. The room is spinning...".
