Perfect for a child or grandparent. I have the Galaxy Tab A with S pen and I haven't touched it in months.

Yeah, this seems like a decent enough price but if you can dish out another $50 you can get a refurb Tab a which has 1080P screen and a little more CPU and RAM....

Wouldn't Fire HD 10 be better? More RAM, more storage, higher resolution. It's the same price right now, but last month it was $119.

I bought this for my 8yr old for Christmas. Used Google familink to setup her own children's Gmail and lock down most of the apps on the laptop, in regards to having open internet. Absolutely works great for a child. Huge 7700mah battery lasts forever, and supports quick charge. Good child cases available on Amazon for it too. It's really a diamond in the rough. Don't waste your money on a fire tablet, when this has full play store access.

That Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016), model SM-T580 can be had for $180-200 new when on sale, and the warehouse club versions (Costco, BJ's) come with free 32GB microSD card. eBay used-like-new price is around $160 and I bought one for ~$130 with 20% vendor coupon (PRESDAY).

It was and still is a decent mid-range tablet when released in 2016 and far better than the Tab E 9.6 (which was already meh when released in 2015):
- 1920x1200 resolution (reasonable) vs. 1280x800 (coarse)
- octa core 1.6GHz Exynos 7870, 14nm CPU vs. quad 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410, 28nm
- 2GB RAM vs. 1.5GB
- 802.11ac WiFi vs. 802.11a
- The Tab A 10.1 runs Nougat 7.0 and the latest system/security I got update is dated Dec 2017, the Tab E 9.6 also got Nougat 7.0 update.
- (per Samsung spec, I didn't weigh them) is thinner and lighter despite the larger screen: 0.32", 1.16 lb vs. 0.38", 1.21 lb.
