I've been eyeing this blender since it came out a month ago. It looks extremely promising and similar to a Vitamix/Blendtec level blender. Original price was at $149.99 and it looks like it's dropped to $79.99 with free shipping.

Definitely looks like a good deal compared to a Ninja at the same price point. Better than spending $300+.

Powerful, quieter than expected
The Strata Home Pro arrived in a pleasantly hassle-free box. Though the blender base is plastic, not metal, it feels solidly built. The control knob has very distinct "click" detents at each position, and is slightly wobbly, but the power on/off and pulse switches are pleasantly heavy-duty. Not a Vitamix or BlendTec, but hey - way cheaper.

The pitcher is very nicely built overall, and the sturdy looking blades are a combination of smooth-edged and serrated. There's also an interlock that prevents operation if the lid isn't in place.

There's a soft-start feature to the motor (if you're using the knob) which takes a bit of getting used to. The pulse button, however, does not have that. Tap that, and you're at Mach 1 in a split second.

Overall, I've only made a couple smoothies in this blender so far, but it's a great deal for the price. It's actually far quieter at moderate speeds than I expected, and that's in comparison to a garden-variety Osterizer that it replaces - and I haven't needed to ramp it up to 10 (11?) yet.

Looks interesting - are there any reviews out there? I know monoprice generally makes solid items but I haven't bought a food related item yet from them.

Got one, we'll see how it is. Never had vitamix or blendtec before, so can't compare.

I don't see an option to buy an extended warranty.
But then again, I would not expect Monoprice to easily honor it in the first place.

There was one on Monoprice's site giving it a 4 of 5 rating. It is so new (mid-January) it doesn't surprise me. But it was overpriced originally compared to Kitchen Aid and Ninja comparable models.

Hope it doesn't suck. Convinced a coworker to buy it. She missed out on the ninja from amazon for $53.50

Same model sold at Rakuten. Mostly highly positive reviews.

The design of it leads me to believe that it might actually operate better than average. America's Test Kitchen's blender review points to cylindrical blender profiles for best performance because food doesn't stick to the sides as much. Materials flow better to the bottom.

That link only shows reviews for Monoprice on Rakuten, nothing about the blender..?

My mistake.

Here's the product page. The reviews are for monoprice as a whole. Not this product. Apologies.

Don't believe reviews from mono's site. They delete anything that they don't like.
In a few months, Amazon will have some reviews.

Looks like a blendtec knockoff. I wonder if it can make hot soup.
