Meh...

First review: "you have to keep the app open on your phone for Alexa to work. It would be much more convenient if the app could run in the background while you are using other apps. It also does not seem to be able to hear my voice unless I speak slightly more loudly than usual."

I picked one up to play with. I figure if it doesn't work, I can send it back. My car is not on the list of problem vehicles, so I guess we'll find out. I do wish the charging ports were at least QC 2.0, but at least it does have two charging ports.

The app doesn't have to stay open. Once it connects you can swipe it away on Android. It will leave a icon in your notification tray.

In the reviews some mention battery drain from the app but I've not seen that, again on Android. It isn't clear but you will need to also connect to your car's Bluetooth or through an auxiliary cable.

Probably has his setting for that specific app to battery optimized.

How much better is this than just connecting my phone to an auxiliary input? Better mic?

I'm in. I've been looking for something like this but wasn't too impressed with the reviews for the Garmin. Reviews on YouTube look good.

Question if you have a newer car 2017-2018 with Android Auto then this thing would be basically useless?

Well my thinking that this would be great for older cars that don't have Carplay or Android Auto. It could tell you directions, weather, or play music but besides it telling my flash briefing or doing some commands like turn on my lights i don't see the use in newer cars. I may be wrong but I just bought a 2018 Accord and don't see any use for it.

There available voice commands on Android Auto are very limited. I much prefer the functionality of Alexa at home.
