Been thinking to get a vacuum sealer for when I sous vide, been using ziplock bags until now, never had an issue with it. Wonder which is cheaper, buying a machine plus rolls of plastic bags, or keep going with the ziplock bags.

Looks like this one doesn't seal well with moisture in the bag, from the reviews. Can anyone that owns one of these chime in on that?

I'm also looking for a sous vide vacuum sealer, and I kind of expect some moisture in the bags sometimes depending on what I'm putting in there.

I have one of these and I really didn't like it. For some reason it just gave me way more trouble than I expected it to. I finally got it down after a few uses, then it just stopped working completely. I really don't even know what the problem is. It sounds like it's running, but nothing happens

Sealing wet food (like baked beans) is always tricky with vacuum sealers. I have a couple tricks that work for me.

First, for delicate food you can double seal the bag. Fist time with the vacuum, second time, right next to the first seal, to reinforce and make sure its a tight seal.

Secondly, for soups and so on... I would first freeze it, then seal once its frozen, works great!

good luck.

To be honest, ziplock bags are good enough. I bought a vac sealer but it doesn't do well with sealing liquids and proteins. A ziplock bag does well enough with the submerging technique. If you still want to go with a sealer make sure it does well with dealing in liquids.
